An 8-year-old girl leaped from a sixth-floor balcony — breaking both her legs — to escape a raging inferno at a Bronx high-rise, The Post has learned.
The fire broke out just around 6 p.m. Wednesday at the 17-story building on East 169th Street in the Morrisania section, according to officials.
Video from the scene shows flames shooting out of a window and black smoke billowing into the sky.
The girl became trapped by the blaze and jumped from the balcony, police sources said.
It’s unclear where she landed.
Her 17-year-old aunt was outside smoking when the fire broke out, rushed in to try and save the girl — but was forced away because of the heavy smoke, sources said.
The girl was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where she was listed in critical but stable condition, officials said.
One other resident and two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the blaze, officials said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
